Which 3d animation software should i use?

Written by 3D Max on March 18th, 2010

Maya? 3ds MAX? Blender? Lightwave? Bryce 3D? View? What? Why? I want to make a movie, like “The Incredibles” without other programs.

I HIGHLY recommend 3ds max 2008 if u have the resources. I have used 3ds max for 3 years and i have loved every minute ive used it. I personally hate blender though.

Maya is pretty much the industry standard. If you can master Maya you should have no problem getting a job in movies.

Try them all and find out which one you are comfortable with.

Bryce and Vue have no or limited character animation functionality so you can use them mainly for environments.

Maya is used industry, as well as for computer and video games.

    Max Primarily for games.

Lightwave. Is getting very popular but not the standard- I am a Expert at lightwave an honestly the jobs are few and far apart

    Blender,Bryce 3d,Vue,poser – Don’t wast your time

Learn Max if you want to get into video games learn maya to be in the film and TV industry
